Love the food, wish I tried it earlier. Great prices and good portions. We got the appetizer platter which was really filling, but also had the garlic curry and the Laotian pad Thai. Flavors are really unique and a great place to try Laotian food if you’ve never had it before! Definitely coming back. Olay's Thai Lao Cuisine, a regular at various food truck events on Oahu, presented an experience that unfortunately left a lasting impression for the wrong reasons. My first encounter with their food truck was at an event in Kaneohe. Initially, I was met with a lack of attention, waiting unnoticed until finally being asked for my order. However, it was what I observed next that truly turned me away. The food preparation practices in the truck raised serious red flags. I witnessed someone coughing directly into a pot of rice and others switching between handling their phones, touching food, and dealing with cash - all without any glove changes or apparent regard for basic hygiene and food safety standards. As someone who isn't overly cautious about germs, even I found these practices to be alarmingly negligent. It was enough for me to immediately cancel my order and seek out another food option at the event. Since that day, whenever I spot Olay's Thai Lao Cuisine at a food truck gathering, I make a conscious effort to avoid it. My experience has left me concerned not just for myself, but for others who might dine there, oblivious to the potential health risks. It's a reminder that, while food trucks can offer a delightful culinary experience, vigilance about food safety practices is crucial.
