Sal was our waiter and he made our family night great! Sal is a great friendly waiter and knows what the kids love to eat besides on the menu to make it worth it! Amazing food! The calamari was fantastic! Cooked perfectly! The fries that came with it were delicious!! And the tartar sauce was to die for!!!! My husband got the salmon and shrimp and he said it was amazing! Best salmon he’s ever had! I also got a bowl of the clam chowder and it was delicious! So flavorful! Old Fisherman’s Grotto on Fisherman’s Wharf in Monterey was a classic seafood dinner stop with beautiful wharf atmosphere. We started with a cup of clam chowder and a Dungeness crab cocktail, both of which made for a fresh and satisfying beginning to the meal. We shared the surf and turf with a 5 oz filet, lobster tail, fresh vegetables, and a twice-baked potato. The filet was cooked medium rare and truly melted in your mouth. The lobster was excellent, though I would have loved a little more butter with it. The only miss was the twice-baked potato, which was burnt and a bit too crispy for my taste. Overall, the meal was still very good, and the seafood and steak made it worth the stop.
