It is the greatest spot near Wilpena Panorama. Among other Australian cuisune places to visit, this restaurant can be one of the best. Come here and order perfectly cooked fillet steaks, mushrooms and mushroom pie. Get your meal started with good wine.

Bob was rude and made us all feel really uncomfortable. We asked if he had availability for four as we had not made a booking and he berated us despite the pub being almost empty. A person on our table ordered a schnitzel and gave their salad to someone else. He came over and berated them for not eating the salad themselves. There were many other instances where Bob made us uncomfortable. The food was below average. The atmosphere is cute but definitely not worth it. Definitely would not recommend going here. Have dined at the Old Ghan three times in past 6 months, never disappoints. Great quality food at very reasonable prices.

The food here is the best anywhere around the Flinders Ranges. Bob can come over a bit rough but that's what we like about the Old Ghan Restaurant in Hawker. It's something different. I had the Beef and Stout pie, the meat was delicious. My partner had the fillet steak and it was fantastic. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
