Great little Italian restaurant in a small strip mall. One of those hidden gems worth trying out.
Love this place! Hands down the best Italian restaurant in miami! Owner is the nicest man, the service and staff is absolutely stellar.
OSTERIA VECCHIO PIEMONTE (Italian) directly translates to "Old Piedmont Tavern."  (Piedmont refers to a region of Italy bordering France and Switzerland which sits at the foot of the Alps.  It's known for its sophisticated cuisine and wines.) 5  STARS! *DISCLAIMER: Your experience may differ from MY experience.  Individual results may vary.  Lol.   After all, it was my BIRTHDAY!  And ... it was a Saturday night, the night before New Year's Eve.  Perhaps the dynamic staff was in a particularly spirited mood?! At any rate, I received exceptional service which was way above and beyond typical service standards! This is how it all went down: My boyfriend wanted to take me out to dinner for my birthday; he let ME select the restaurant.  Thanks to Yelp, I had previously discovered and bookmarked this inconspicuous Italian gem.  I must have driven by it at least a hundred times within the past three years & nine months that this restaurant has been open, yet never noticed its subdued presence situated at the end of a rinky dink strip plaza, adjacent to a Benjamin Moore paint store.   Boyfriend & I arrived at about 9 pm without a reservation.   We were greeted immediately and, although it was Saturday night and the place was quite full, we were seated one minute later.   As we were looking over the menu, we were brought complimentary bruschetta, then a basket of warm bread.  We ordered a bottle of Argentinian Malbec (Agua de Piedra) which was poured into a glass decanter in order for it to "breathe." For an appetizer, we shared an order of Fritto di Calamari ... it had bits of fried zucchini mixed in and was accompanied by marinara sauce and fresh lemon.   For my entrée, I could not decide between two dishes - Fagottino di Pollo (chicken breast stuffed w/ asparagus & cheese) - OR - Ravioli di Spinaci ai 3 Pomodori (Spinach ravioli w/ 3 types of tomatoes), so I asked the waiter for his opinion.  To my surprise and delight, he offered to bring me BOTH!  He informed me that the chicken dish comes with a side of potatoes, so he would simply substitute the potatoes for a side of the ravioli instead!!  Wow ... so very accommodating!   My boyfriend ordered the Lasagna di Carni (traditional beef lasagna.) Everything was delicious ... The wine went down like Kool-Aid!  The calamari was one of the best we have had.  Boyfriend said his lasagna was very good.  I enjoyed the contrast in texture of my tender chicken with its crisp asparagus, and the spinach ravioli did not disappoint.   Osteria Vecchio Piemonte provides an intimate setting for a romantic evening ... dim lighting, black ceiling, very small dining area, only 12 tables in total, all with crisp white and yellow table linens and candlelight.   Prices are VERY reasonable.  (See menu pics.)  My entrée was $16.95 and my boyfriend's lasagna was $15.95.   Calamari appetizer was $12.95 and our bottle of wine was $35.   My boyfriend commented to me that he could easily picture this little fine dining establishment in The Grove or The Gables, or even Brickell, but the menu prices would be at least double!  (Their overhead would be at least double, as well.) The music started out as soft classical Italian, then transitioned into pop hits from the '70's & '80's played at a higher volume.  Jokingly, I asked our waiter if I could hear some TOM JONES (because, you know, it was my birthday!)  Moments later ... Tom Jones' famous baritone voice was belting out "I love you" ...  OH MY!  To be serenaded by Tom Jones made my birthday complete!  (Song was "I Who Have Nothing.") Then ... out of the blue ... the music drastically transitioned again and the entire wait staff enthusiastically sang "Happy Birthday" to me as complimentary chocolate cannolis were escorted out to me, served on a large square white plate with "Happy Birthday" inscribed in chocolate syrup, and illuminated with a candle!  They also brought us two complimentary glasses of Prosecco garnished with fresh, sliced strawberries!  Wow! ... what a terrific surprise!  I didn't see that coming.  By the way, the cannolis were scrumptious!  I had also ordered Chocolate Mousse for dessert; it was topped with slivered almonds, and it tasted divine! It was now 11:00 pm (closing time), and we had already been there about 2 hours.   All of the other customers had left by now, except for one other couple.   Just as my boyfriend and I gave each other the look of "we better get ready to leave," here comes more Prosecco! ... and then more Prosecco! ... and, later, even MORE Prosecco!   The other couple was now requesting Reggaeton which the wait staff was eagerly obliging.   The music was pumping.  The other couple was dancing. Boyfriend & I were overindulging ... and feeling no pain! Wow ... what a night!   We finally ended up leaving at almost 1 in the morning and we said goodbye to our waiters as if they were family!   A fabulous dining experience ... and a birthday to remember, for sure!
