get the guava pastry and the ham & cheese croissant sandwich. both are super flaky and buttery. i didn’t love the cardamom bun, it was dry.
Guyaba, almendras, concha, cardamomo. That's what I ended up getting at this fancy pastry shop. This is not your grandmother's panaderia. This is some fancy French-Mexican hybrid shop. Using French baking techniques to make some old school Mexican pastries. Guava was a bit too sweet for me, but the base layer of the pastry was sufficiently flaky and soft. A bit disappointed since that guava seems to be the pastry of choice for many. Almond was a good hybrid and was my personal favorite. Concha was one of the best I had, but it's not for the traditionalist. When I had the concha, it didn't have the harder inner that I'm more accustomed to. These conchas was like biting into a sponge cake with concha sugar frosting. Not bad, just pleasantly surprised. Cardamom was way too strong and overpowering. Easily would pass that up next time.
We learned about this bakery through a show on Netflix and immediately thought we had to go here. On our trip to Mexico City this was on the list of the top places we had to try and we were not disappointed! This bakery is in the heart of Condesa, which is a beautiful part of the city with trees, beautiful buildings and plenty of restaurants and coffee shops back to back. Panaderia Rosetta is a tiny bakery with a bar that seats about 15 people I would say and the baked good are amazing. Our favorite was the Guava Roll, everything was just the right amount of sweet and the interior vibe really was how we watched it on tv. We waited for about 10 minutes to get a seat for the two of us, but you can also do take out if you dont want to wait. LOVED IT.
