Paul’s Place is a very quaint and very cute place to eat! Love the slight breeze we felt as we sat by the window. Decorated with charm and even a picture of Paul as a young surfer. It has been described as a “hidden gem”in an article by the Honolulu magazine and it is! Located on a corner near Hilo Farmers Market. It only seats about 8 people so make sure you text Paul, the owner, so you have the opportunity to try his tasty food! We tried his Eggs Benedict and Belgian Waffle! Both were delicious! Coffee was yummy too! We will definitely come back if he has an opening! Cannot wait to try his other dishes! Paul's Place is a very unique restaurant. It's the number one rated restaurant on trip advisor in a town of 30k plus residents. It serves fantastic breakfast and lunch creations. And it contains exactly three 2-person tables. It's like a micro restaurant. I've been on 4 different occasions and there's always a stream of walk-in diners who are politely told a reservation is required at least 2 weeks out. On our most recent visit our party of four consumed 67% of the seats and enjoyed fantastic coffee -"this is a chef who specializes in breakfast on an island that grows superb coffee who understands how to maximize the union of beans and water. Easily the best cup of coffee during our 2 week stay. Anyway Belgian waffles were superb and the smoked salmon Benedict was exhibit A of why they deserve their lofty ranking. An outstanding meal. We drove 2 hours from north kohala for a 9am reservation. If I lived on the island I'd have a standing reservation. Highly recommended! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Breakfast
