Love their always fresh, warm, crunchy but moist and tender PLAIN BREADS. Used to be 5 for $1 but now 3 for $1. The price has gone up but its till cheaper and wayyy better than Lee in my neighborhood. Lee's breads are cold and bad textured, either dry and cold or have very hard crust that cut the inside of my mouth when I bite and chew it. I always finish one Phat Tri's plain bread in my car on the way driving home. Can't wait to break the yummy crunchy crispy in half and start tasting it one bite after another till the whole bread is gone. LOL. Their cashier, the young girl is nice and courteous. They need to open one in Milpitas. And Lee needs to move out of Milpitas. Less one star cuz Cash Only. Should accept Credit card with $10 min. Thats how almost all fast food businesses now doing. It also makes people buy more. No one carries lots of cash.

This place is overpriced with mediocre sandwiches. I was visiting family in San Jose and stopped by the place to grab some sandwiches for our long trip back to Orange County. The sandwiches here are $6-7, which is pretty outrageous. We got the dac biet, thit (ham), trung with lap xuong, and cha ca. They do have a buy 5 get 1 free promo, but the total for 5 sandwiches and a coffee was $39. I've never spent that much on banh mi before. My family thought the dac biet sandwich was just ok, definitely not worth the $7. The trung with lap xuong sounded interesting but my brother said it was pretty plain cause they didn't season the eggs or anything. I thought there would at least be some soy sauce in there but guess not. The best sandwich was the cha ca-- it came with generous slices of cha ca and mo hanh and the cha ca was perfectly seasoned and not fishy. The bread itself was the best part of the deal...very crispy on the outside without being hard like Lee's that cuts the roof of your mouth and very soft and chewy on the inside. I did notice a lot of people coming in just to buy the plain bread. It comes out of the oven fresh and hot pretty frequently and they dump it in this basket for people to grab and purchase. I would definitely get the bread here again but not the sandwich. I got the ham sandwich and didn't really like it. I actually took out the ham and just ate the bread with pate. I'm from Orange County where there are plenty of great sandwiches place without $6-7/sandwich, more like $3 or $4 max so I'm a little bias about that. Overall I give this place 3 stars for their yummy bread and cha ca sandwich. Not a lot of places offer cha ca sandwich which makes this place stand out so I would go there again for that but not the other sandwiches.
