My husband I decided to try Piro's for the first time. The complimentary warm toasted bread was a nice touch and very tasty. Everything went downhill from there. We tried the bruschetta was about average although the vinegar flavor was a bit heavy and there was no parm cheese on it at all. My husband ordered the shrimp parm which was bland, not crispy at all, and extremely heavy on the breadcrumbs. I ordered the chicken parm which was hard to eat. The breadcrumbs were heavy and tasted awful and the chicken tasted like it was stored with raw veal given the heavy veal flavor to the chicken. To top off the bad experience, we had to pay per glass of soda (something we didn't know until we were given the bill). Towards the end of the meal we were delighted (being sarcastic) to have the smell of cigarettes coming though through the dining room from someone smoking either in the kitchen or just outside. Needless to say, after the $100+ dollar meal for two, we definitely won't be back.
Fabulous Italian food. Best on the island
2 stars Service-terrific: 4 stars Food- meh  2 stars Appetizers: Ordered tomato and salami- no joke: four slices of beefsteak tomatoes (one was white in the middle ) with 5 paper thin slices Genoa salami thrown on a plate. Not a drizzle of olive oil, crank of a pepper mill, or a sprig of parsley $10.00 Fried meatballs with long hots-meatballs were dried, hot dark meatballs on a plate with 3long hot peppers roasted-didn't pair well together. I dont get it. Entrees: Salmon Jack Daniels. It looked anemic. Says on the menu "best selling seafood." Small piece of salmon-most likely a huge profit margin. My date seemed to like it despite its appearance. He's not a foodie, he'll eat anything. Crab Cake $31.00 all lump crabmeat. The highlight of the dinner-delicious; however, lukewarm. Sides were coleslaw -it was warm...so warm I was afraid to eat it. Both entrees came with a potato gratin that was hot and tasted old... not appetizing. Highlight: salad that came with each entree. Perfect :cold crisp romaine with the perfect garlicky Italian dressing. Will try it again and order different apps. Great service!
