What an incredible experience while I was in Norway a couple of weeks ago! Re-Naa is located in downtown Stavanger and recently acquired a Michelin Star. The meal is set, 20 courses and you can opt for wine pairing (of course I opted for wine pairing). Everything was incredibly delicious and interesting. Not like anything I have experienced before. The restaurant sources food locally to ensure a Norwegian experience. For one of the courses, I was served Skate, a local fish, and delicacy in Norway. It looks like a sting ray with wavy fins. It's white, light and heavenly. I also had local scallops (the chef came over with the scallops still alive in their shell and said "now I am going to kill them for you.") Every course is quite small, but be prepared to feel totally stuffed at the end of it. Go hungry! The wine was impeccable. I must have had 2-3 kinds of bubbles, reds and whites to total about 10 different wines. I'm not a huge drinking so luckily my dinner friend finished what I couldn't. Regardless, I really enjoyed trying everything. The space itself is small with an open kitchen so you can watch all the goings on. The service was spot on to the point that we were walked out to our cab, doors opened for us, hand shakes all around with a cheek kiss goodbye. With the wine, it was about $450 US per head. This is very standard for Norway. Spending $400 on a meal should not surprise you.
