I've dined at Rasika's West End location in the past but am ashamed to admit that this was my first time at their original spot and it was amazing! Service and ambiance were top knotch, and the food, as expected, was wonderful. The host/assistant manager (I assume) was particularly attentive and helped us get our bill a little early as we had to bounce to get back to the office, and was a delight. We started with their famous palak chaat, always a crowd-pleaser and one where the flavors of the sauces combined with the crisp spinach swims tantalizingly on the tongue. We also split a few other of their starter-sized dishes: the chili mango scallop, an eggplant dish in a beautiful tamarind sauce, and their crab masala which was a total delight. Then, entrees! Lamb curry, chicken tikka masala, a tandoori salmon that was so perfectly cooked, and a surprisingly sweet and deliciously tender black cod. Toss in their classic bread basket and I was in Heaven. My only regret is that this darn baby is takin' up space in my belly so I didn't have room to eat more, haha! Not to worry, I happily escorted home all of our leftovers (and they have like a coat-check system for your boxed up food -- they bring you a ticket and you collect it at the front when you're done! So fancy!), and still pranced out of there very happily. Thanks for a wonderful meal, Rasika! All these incredible reviews are certainly well-merited, and I'm sure I'll be back soon!
This restaurant hardly needs yet another glowing review, but it is truly one of the best options in Penn Quarter, and in DC generally.  The dishes are excellent and I am always excited to try their imaginative cocktails (though the bar can also produce excellent standby drinks).  The service is  friendly, and there when we needed it and unobtrusive when appropriate.  This is just an all-around excellent establishment.
Nice ambiance and delicious food. The hostess was super friendly and offered to check my coat and bag upon entry.
