The staff here were extremely rude for no good reason and the food wasn't very good either for what I paid. It was better when the county council ran it directly but it's rubbish run by a contract catering place! Anyway it's all experience and a lesson not to use this cafe again in the future! WORSTE cafe experience ever! Absolutely DISGUSTING. Walking into Refresh Cafe was like stepping into a sewer — the whole place stank of damp, old nappies, and misery. The tables were soaking wet and filthy, and the chairs looked like they’d collapse if you breathed on them. Despite this, they had the audacity to charge premium prices for drinks that were dragged out of a broken fridge, lukewarm and looking like they’d been there since last Christmas. The coffee was straight-up nasty — greasy, and served in a cup that clearly hadn’t seen a sponge in weeks. The chips? Cooked in what I can only assume was century-old oil. You could taste the filth. And the burger? Vile. Both me and my nan nearly gagged. Flies were everywhere — even having a pool party in the dog’s water bowl. The staff? Looked like they’d been slapped with a wet fish before their shift. Not a smile in sight, just a collective aura of misery and resentment. Dirty. Smelly. Overpriced. Very disappointed, staff were friendly but not very competent. I was about to order icecream however a customer behind asked what the 2 tubs were that were not labelled, the member of staff replied with peanut butter and salted caramel. That was the first red flag, a common allergen not labled. So I asked (as I am allergic to peanuts) if they use the same scoop for all ice creams and they said no, but have today as they were busy, but even if they had different scoops for the different allergens they would have washed in the same water regardless. Very dangerous and I would have no idea if it wasn’t for the customer behind!
