Delicious fish and chips

Best fish and chips in Indy. Our waitress Danielle was supper polite and always right there when we needed her, even when my little niece had an accident.

We had a wonderful server! I will keep my comments to food and beverage. I ordered a scotch egg and it was over-fried. In a tough, salty, and somewhat burnt way. I was excited for my partner to try this pleasant and hearty appetizer, but I would not recommend it at Red Lion. I've had them in other establishments, but don't bother at RLGH (Red Lion Grog House) I subtracted a star for the appetizer. Second came the entrees. I will tell you their most popular items include everything that wasn't available come 8:00pm during Covid times. Therefore, I asked if the meatloaf was any good (along the lines of a classic English supper or shepherd's pie). I wish I would have ordered anything else. The meatloaf was over herbed and didn't have much heft to it. Some parts of it were dry if it didn't have the brown gravy on it. Overall, I would suggest that you not order the meatloaf. Subtract one star. However, the fish and chips that my partner ordered was the highlight! I would encourage someone who can't order the Bangers and Mash or the Lancashire Hot Pot to order the Fish and Chips. B&M and LHP are the gems on this menu. I ate them on a previous visit and would highly recommend. Finally, the mixed drinks my partner ordered were rather weak for the value. It didn't seem worth the money. He ordered two to make sure it wasn't a misfire, but the second drink he didn't finish and opted to drink water. I enjoyed a soda, which wasn't refilled during my visit, although the asked after I paid for the tab. Overall I'd subtract a star for the value on the mixed drink and beverage service here. It may be a while before I head back to RLGH, but I assure you to order the Fish and Chips, Lancashire Hot Pot, and the Bangers and Mash. Other entrees miss the mark here, and don't bother with the Scotch Egg.
