Bustling is a great way to describe The Red Lion, it was Sunday lunch time and the tables filled quickly, the staff were friendly and engaging, the food fab and the table clearing was almost surgically clean. We had the roasts and they were great, rare beef, great chicken, the roast potatoes were, as with most places, not like home cooked, but bulk cooking is not great for potatoes, The vegetables were alsi well cooked and the cauliflower cheese the best my partner had tasted. The Desserts were equally impressive, we booked another meal there before leaving

We arrived at the pub where we had dined several times before. We were led to our table, looked around and everyone had their coats on, it was a cold ole building.
After 20 mins and drinking a flat pint of lager for £6.00 we were abruptly asked what we wanted, no how you guys doing, what would you like please, it was literally what you having!?
We ordered our food, the starters came, steaming hot…. Nope, Luke warm but it was so cold the food looked really hot, however, edible.
I was looking for a waitress or barman as the second pint served was also flat so wanted it changed, to no avail so halfway through my starters I waved a barman down after he looked at me then looked away even though I had my hand up like a school child trying to get my teachers attention. I received a pint and was told I hope this ones not good enough then we need to change your drink.
We received our mains and it tasted fantastic.
We finished and asked for our bill, it arrived and the really nice waitress, different the one we had before told us that a 10% charge had been added and that we hoped we were ok with that.
I paid the bill paying only a 7% charge on top of the original bill. Not sure why, to save the embarrassment I think.
We then got up to go, walked passed the bar only to be stared at by the small chap with dark hair behind the bar, not a thanks enjoy your evening, not anything just a stare!?? Great food, the building needs heating and most of the staff need to be trained and us customers paying good money do not need to be served by pompous people that are currently employed. I knew the previous owner Eric very well and he would have never put up with the customer service that we are receiving these days.

Staff were very helpful. Food delicious, but the pub was so cold, we all kept our coats on which spoilt the experience.
