After leaving the East Coast, I was very concerned about my Asian food options in Austin.  I was ecstatic to find Ros Niyom is everything that I wanted and more.  This is my #1 go-to spot in Austin and probably the restaurant I'll miss the most if and when I leave. Ros Niyom Thai sticks to traditional Thai food..meaning food like eggrolls will be absent from the menu. Their absolute, absolute, and I mean absolute standout dish is their pork boat noodles.  It has a herb broth, chock full of flavor, and unmatched by even the best Thai restaurants in DC and NYC.  If I bring my friends over, this is the one dish that sticks in their mind after they leave.  This is the one dish I always...must...order every visit. Other standout dishes are: Pad Khee Mao with pork.  Most thai restaurants overcook the vegetables and noodles which makes everything soggy. Not here.  The veggies are crisp and the noodles are perfectly cooked. I highly recommend going with the pork as your meat. Pad Phed.  Very hot and spicy, but my go-to spicy entree.  I also go with pork. Papaya salad.  Add prawns.  Excellent dish. Larb.  Another fantastic appetizer.  I'd go with pork as well. If you can tolerate a bit of Thai spice, I suggest asking for peppers with fish sauce on the side to add to your food.  They make this in-house...which very few if ANY Thai restaurants do and it will make your food extremely flavorful (but spicy so warning you).
Everything about this was perfect. It's adorable and so clean, and the service was excellent, never mind that this blew every other Thai food I've had completely out of the water. The appetizers and entrees came out so fast, but separately so you had time to eat both without feeling rushed, and the water glasses never dropped below half. Everything had so much complex flavor and was perfectly cooked. Portions are enough to fill you up and still take some home, and you can't find more reasonable prices. It's not an exaggeration to say that every other Thai I eat from now on will be compared to this.
Wow Amazing dinner with my husband in this place. We ordered Por Pier Tod, the crunchy spring rolls, super delicious and fresh. I wanted to try their salad so I ordered the Som Tum with eggs and it was very tasty, spicy, but not overpowering with flavours, just right! And of course we came here to try the Tom Kha with seafood, what a nice portion of soup and filled with seafood and mushrooms which add such a great texture to the broth. The food is really good, but the service is top notch. Even though there's not a lot of wait staff, the place is clean and the food arrives pretty fast. As soon as people leave, they come in and clean the tables. Overall it has a very nice atmosphere! I want to come back and taste the spicy and sour soups and other salads. I'm very pleased with this place and the price is very comfortable given the amount and quality of food they offer. We only paid around $30.00 and are very satisfied with the food and customer service!
