We finally got to enjoy an amazing dining experience at DOP. I see why chef Rui Paula has Michelin stars. My man (a retired 5 star chef) loves seafood (but never eats any at restaurants) and he loved the Chef's seafood Prix Fix meal with wine paring. I don't like seafood so ordered from the ala carte menu. I had the burrata, tomato and basil starter followed with the black pork neck, a celery and cider sauce entree with wine pairing as well. The food is beyond wonderful. This is truly dining...not eating a meal. If you love and appreciate amazing food then you MUST dine here. We will go back every time we are in Porto!
Ok food, don't expect Michelin star quality on all dishes, maybe 1 out of 5 would qualify. Wines OK, food service great and very professional, but the wine and water guy will stop by every 25mins. Tooooo slow. We continuously ran out of water and wine. So in summary; food is decent but rather boring and staff is friendly but slow. The lady who runs the place tries her best, but her staff is just not that good.
We came with friends on rather empty night, so we had all the time of the waiters to make the night great. Octopus was very soft and tender, for sure recommend as a try. We also went for a shrimp starter, which in my opinion, was absolutely top.Variety of deserts brought me to an old feeling of snickers, enjoyed until the last bit of caramel. Hope to come back next time for trying new flavors
