After driving past the Rusty Pelican numerous times in Newport Beach and familiar with their Miami location, I finally had the opportunity to check them out for a Sunday brunch and I couldn't be more happier that I did. Upon arrival we were greeted by the valet parking guy who made sure that we had reservations prior to exiting our car. We then proceeded inside and let the hostess know that we have arrived for our brunch appointment and we were seated shortly after at the patio overlooking the marina and the beautiful Newport Bay. Cody our waiter greeted us and he took very good care of us for the rest of the afternoon. We started out with a couple martinis which were very tasty and strong followed by the Caprese as our appetizer which was amazing. The marinated tomatoes and fresh mozzarella were to die for and they only thing missing was that there was not enough basil, imho. For lunch I picked the Mahi Mahi Orange Ginger Glaze from the brunch menu which was simply amazing and very flavorful, the fish just melted in your mouth and the jasmine rice with the ginger sauce was so good. My friend chose the Crab Cake Benedict and they also were out of this world. It is not often that I get blown away by a restaurant brunch menu but Rusty Pelican is doing it right that's for sure and it shows. For dessert we picked the Crème Brûlée and not was this one of the biggest but also nicely presented desserts ever. The fresh berries and whipped cream made this dessert simply irresistible and it added a nice touch to our meal. 5 stars for exceptional service, great ambience and fantastic food. I'll be back.
