I was by recently last week and Shima-Ya Sushi has been replaced by a new establishment. The new owner mentioned the sushi chef from Shima-Ya has retired. Best wishes to the family who used to run Shima-Ya. My family always thought your sushi was the freshest and tastiest.

This home-styled Japanese owned and delivered is quaint, but is a gem that brings the comfort of home into a restaurant. One of the few places that serve a fish-bone soup, it is a must have if one enjoys the simplicity of a richly flavored broth using all parts of the fish that do not get cut into a nicely presented piece of sushi. Add in a chawanmushi with a good amount of seafood and this is one of the most complete traditional, home-styled Japanese experiences I have really come to appreciate. I usually come for the omakase and it can overshadow these other dishes, but behind the simple decor of the restaurant lies a rich history of well tuned, time-tested food choices that will satisfy those looking for a traditional Japanese food experience.
