It was many years ago that a family trip ended at San Antonio Winery. The kids were underage and could only enjoy the souvenir shop. I think we did a winery tour here, and yes, they are still conducting such tours. This time around, it is just me and the lovely missus that have made it to this obscure yet very interesting neighborhood. Who would have thought that a modern stone quarry was right next door. Who would have known that in the Los Angeles formative years, this downtown location was hills upon hills and grapes were grown and wineries flourished. San Antonio Winery has a great history, and we made it on an early midweek afternoon. Parking was plentyful, and we are greeted with a taste of a sweet LA Quinta Syrah Port that also packs a punch of 18.5% alc/volume. Our lunch time was an excellent experience. We liked seeing the Italian pastas as you enter the restaurant that are presented in shrinkwrapped plates to make your ordering choices a visual one. The Spaghetti with Meatballs and the Pasta Arrabbiatta are ours to savor. Helpful service from our waiter who brought us cold water in a wine bottle. He pointed out the remarkable live music solo guitar player that filled the air acoustically with emotional fervor of romantic tunes. The pastas also came with a side of arugula salad and sliced bread that you spread with golden soft butter. Should we have a glass of wine? No. We are still enjoying the buzz from the earlier tasting. Great luncheon and a nice atmosphere. On the way out, we were helped by Bruce, a knowledgeable wine connoisseur. Two bottles of Bodega De Sangria, one beautiful looking Stella Rosa semi-sweet sparkling Rose, and yes, we got to take home that full up Syrah Port for a save libation at home. Thank you, San Antonio Winery.

The food is great! We went for brunch and were seated outside. It was a beautiful day out so this seemed appropriate for the day. Service was amazing our waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and gave us suggestions. The menu for outside dinning is different than the restaurant inside, but more than welcome to order from there as well.
