Service 5/5:
Two names stand out for me from our Anniversary meal here: Titus, our waiter and Trevor Raletjana, the restaurant manager who, throughout the evening checked to see that our evening was on track!
Titus was a dream to watch during our meal. Professional, attentive and well-versed on their A La Carte Menu. I am proud to say that I watched African hospitality at its best as he buzzed around the tables near us asking if he can check on their orders for them or assist in any way.
Ambience 4/5:
I have not been here in quite some time so was eager to sample the new menu. I loved the addition from the onset of the open plan and interactive kitchen giving us an almost personal encounter with the chefs whilst our food is being prepared.
Initially, we were sat in the corner near a cosy fireplace which I highly recommend, but shortly after being seated, we requested to be moved as unfortunately there was a rowdy table of men next to us, who had over-indulged on the whiskey.
However, Titus, politely obliged and it was not long until we were seated in a much quieter comfy booth to enjoy our romantic night out.
Food 4/5:
To start, Oxtail Gnocchi, braised pulled oxtail, butter beans, shaved Karoo crumble cheese. As a starter option, I was surprised to see such a generous portion arrive at the table, and as soon as I had had my first bite, the surprise turned to gratefulness.
The Oxtail Gnocchi really is the perfect winter comfort dish paired with a big glass of red wine.
Then it was onto our mains:
Grilled salmon, coriander and lime bulgar, tahini and garlic yoghurt. The salmon was a little crunchier than it should have been but still very tasty.
And I could not resist having a Chalmar Beef fillet, (medium rare of course).
What I like about San, is that their steaks are always accompanied with a San basting, roasted cherry tomato, roasted baby onions, baked parmesan, potato flan and beef jus.
Another thing that I like about San, is that these Premiere Aged San Cuts are selected, aged and then prepared with so much care.
The result? Perfection, every single time!
To top off this indulgent meal, without prompting, a delicious chocolate fondant arrived at our table with the message: "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate. An elegant and thoughtful touch on such a special evening for us both!
