Someone recommended that I try out the creamed scalloped potatoes, which was delicious and worth it. Also the Tokyo Fried chicken was juicy, tender with enough amount of sauce. The mains we good too for what you get at a Gastro Pub. Next time will try the Fish Bowl cocktails. Price per person: NZ$30–40 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

I usually really dislike places that brand themselves as "gastropubs", cause my brain parses that word as "we sell beer, but there's also mediocre-at-best food". Consequently, my hopes were not high when I was invited to a gathering at Scarlett Slimms and Lucky yesterday.Much to my amazement, I was greeted by a whole host of very pleasant surprises:- the cocktail list is proper good. Any establishment that makes a great, no-corners-cut espresso martini (i.e. not too sweet and made with a shot of freshly made, actual coffee), has a great range of gins (and 4 different tonic waters!) and is happily willing and very able to move away from the beaten path (and make me a negroni sbagliato) deserves praise.- the food was good. My wife had the chicken & mushroom pasta, I had fried chicken tacos and we shared some shoestring fries. All these dishes couldn't be faulted, and I loved the wide range of hot sauces floating around.- I interacted with 3 staff during my time at the place. All were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, even though I was a reasonably demanding guest with lots of questions.5/5, I will happily go here again soon. Do yourself the favour and do the same.
