Was hesitant because the updated reviews of this place on the Infatuation speak poorly of the service and say that the food is just okay. Service was great, and their famous spaghetti was also great. Came with four different types of complimentary bread - all delicious. Server was incredibly attentive, and even gave us a complimentary "splash" of wine at the (a whole additional glass of wine). The spaghetti was very buttery (which I loved). My friend who is not a fan of a lot of butter did not like it as much, but still enjoyed it. They bring the spaghetti dish to you, protected under a glass dome - I guess to retain the heat as it makes its way to the table. The server paused before lifting the glass dome, in case we wanted to document the moment. Make sure to make a reservation. The place was packed!
Loved it. Service was exceptional. Food was delicious. Ambiance is nice. Our server was incredibly nice and offered us some wonderful suggestions. My fish was cooked perfectly and the dessert was amazing. From end to end, Scarpetta really delivered and met all of my expectations. I would definitely come back here.
Came here with my team for our end-of-year holiday dinner. A lot of other people on my team had already been, but it was my first time here, and I really didn't know what to expect. We ordered a few different appetizers-- the scallops were outstanding, and I typically don't even like scallops. If I ever returned, I would definitely order them again. I didn't try many of the other appetizers we shared because of my lactose intolerance (more on that later), but that was fine-- I was happy to have left room for my main course, which was their famous spaghetti! As an Italian girl who grew up eating spaghetti every Sunday and at least once more during the week, I *never* order pasta from restaurants. I'm sick of it! But given that everything else on the menu either had dairy in it or was too expensive to order on the boss' dime, I figured I'd give their famous spaghetti a try. And I was not disappointed! The sauce was different from your regular marinara sauce-- much creamier, and you could very clearly taste the basil. I would actually order it again, despite my fairy strict no-pasta ordering rule. Finally, for dessert, I ordered the strawberries and basil granita (with the whipped cream on the side), and I will probably have dreams about this simple but scrumptious dessert in the upcoming months. I was a bit skeptical of ordering such a simple sounding dessert, but the basil granita was truly outstanding. The one slightly odd thing we experienced was with our waiter. Someone on my team asked for his help and opinion when deciding between two fish entrées. My colleague wanted to know which one our waiter would recommend, but he really did not want to give a clear answer. He responded along the lines of "I might not have the same taste palate that you do, but both are excellent fish." Surely, my colleague had no doubt that both fish were excellent, but come on, take a stand! At the very least, the waiter could have just suggested the more expensive fish (even if he didn't personally care either way). I understand the desire to be diplomatic, but the answer my colleague received was entirely unhelpful. I, however, had a great experience with our waiter as a lactose-intolerant. I told him at the beginning of the meal, and he was diligent about making sure to warn me what I could have and what I couldn't. The bread basket at Scarpetta was incredible. Three different types of bread, and each one was better than the last! One of the breads had meat and cheese wrapped in the middle, and since I couldn't eat the cheese, the waiter brought me my own dairy-free bread basket. I was very impressed and would definitely return!
