I honestly love this Second Cup location. It's my other regular coffee shop aside from Starbucks. But after today's service... I don't think I will be returning. I ordered a hot chocolate in my own tumbler and requested for almond milk. When the barista made my drink, I saw her pouring milk into the metal pitcher and I had to stop her because I paid extra for almond milk. Then she takes some random pitcher from the sink and dumps what looked like dirty water in the sink and then pours almond milk into it... WITHOUT RINSING THE PITCHER. I don't know how I feel about that... in the food industry, that would not have been acceptable. But I am believing in good faith... maybe it was clean and I am just being paranoid?! Because I am drinking my drink as I write this review... I guess if I feel sick the next day, I'll know why... Afterwards, I asked her for a receipt and she hands it to me. I noted that I did not get my cup discount for using my own tumbler and her response was, "We are not Starbucks!" Ummm... yeah, I would know, because I deliberately chose to go out of my way to come here when I could have gone to my regular Starbucks. Are you kiddin' me? Then I told her that I am suppose to have $0.20 off for using my own tumbler. Then, she tried to justify for not offering me the cup discount because she filled my tumbler to the top and she claimed that my tumbler is more than a medium size. Excuse me?! The bottom of my tumbler says 16oz and that's the size of a medium at Second Cup. I wasn't trying to cheat the system by bringing a 20oz tumbler and asking for it to be filled to the top. Again, she said, "We don't have this, only Starbucks has cup discount. I don't even think we have a button for this." Now this is just getting pretty messed up. This is my regular Second Cup location, I've gotten a cup discount here before multiple times, to say there's no button shows either a lack of training for this barista or a reluctance to honour it. I believe it's both. So what did I do? I went on my Yelp photos and showed her a picture that I posted, FROM THIS SECOND CUP LOCATION, with the $0.20 cup discount. She looked at the photo from my phone and then took 20 cents from the tip bowl and said, "Here, just take it!" Oh my word. This whole experience has just been extremely unwelcoming and the barista was not only very rude but I believe she was also unsanitary (remember her treatment of the metal pitcher?). Overall, I am extremely repulse from this experience. No, thank you. I will not be returning. You've just lost a regular from here. I will HAPPILY go to my Starbucks.

I visited on Saturday morning. It wasn't packed but there was a decent amount of people. I ordered the grilled cheese abd a small Chai latte. The grilled cheese was mediocre. There was tomato /marinara sauce mixed in with the cheese. I did not mind the extra sauce. However the bread could have been toasted more. It could have been crunchier. The Chai tea was just okay Second cup has nothing to differ itself from tims or Starbucks. I would not return and I would not recommend. There's nothing special about this place!

This is one of the goto places for cup of coffee and dessert with family or a friend. Most weekends in early afternoon seating is available. Service is best when it is not too busy. Possibly one of the better chain coffee places in the Downtown Markham area. The place is comfortable and you can have conversation. For families with small kids there is a small play area as well.
