A gorgeous little inn with good food, comfy rooms and wonderful service! We booked last minute on the day as a spontaneous trip to the Lakes, to climb Helvellyn the next day, and thankfully we got the last available room. We told the lady who checked us in (I sadly didn’t get her name) that we were leaving very early in the morning to catch the sunrise, so would miss breakfast. She immediately went to talk to the chef and arranged for some plates of food and bottles of orange juice to be made up for us and left in a fridge for us to grab as we left! We were so grateful for such kind and hospitable service, and the food was a great help before the hike. There was plenty of parking available, and you can book to eat in the restaurant which serves tasty pub classics. The room itself was very comfortable, cosy and perfect for what we needed. Only slight downside was the green emergency exit light in our room, as it was incredibly bright and located directly above the bed. We definitely recommend staying at the Shepherds Inn!
