We definitely had higher expectations expectations for SSC. The menu looked varied, but not too all over the place. Plus, the gluten free and vegan options seems thoughtful and unique. In our part of 6, we tried a lot of different stuff. Blueberry margaritas, lobster roll, cheese steak sub, fish tacos, haddock sandwich, lobster grilled cheese ("lobster melt") and vegan sweet potato soup. Overall, quite the disappointment. My fish tacos were so dry and flavorless. The corn tortilla it came on was stale as hell too. A lack of seasoning was a common theme - at least half of us had to salt our food or noted lack of flavor. The one redeeming bite of my meal was the cup of sweet potato soup, which we all thought had good flavor! The Lobster roll and lobster grilled cheese got good reviews from our party. I must say, though, our waitress's behavior was another, albeit puzzling, disappointment. She was friendly and attentive when we arrived and while taking our order. However, when my MIL asked her if her haddock sandwich was supposed to be cold, the waitress got into this awkward standoff with her about temperature. They went back and forth a few times - my MIL is a southerner and passive aggressiveness is in their blood, so don't get me wrong, it was annoying that she waited until our meal was almost done to ask the waitress this pointless question. But still, the attitude during the exchange and especially as the waitress walked away - she didn't even try to hide the what-a-fucking-idiot-look on her face. I found that to be unacceptable. Oh, and that meal set us back $200. Bummed we waisted a meal here.

Swing by during happy hour for drinks, and stay for an early dinner! Their $5 margaritas are delicious. There's a jalapeno infused tequila that you can mix with any of the flavors, like mango or blueberry jalapeno! Ask about the special flavor, but the apple spiced margarita was nothing special. The crab dip and buffalo chicken mac and cheese were amazing. 10/10. Menu is large enough to come back a second time if you're in town long!

We ended up at the Side Street Cafe because the other two restaurants which were recommended to us - Galyn's and McKay's did not have availability until well after 8pm. Side Street had open tables at 7pm, and after a long day of hiking and taking a harbor cruise, we were famished. The burgers we ordered were good though both the NE Chowder, which came out first, as well as the subsequent burgers, arrived before we got our drinks. Very weird! At least that precluded us from ordering a second round since we weren't done with our first round by the time we finished our meal. In addition, the place was so loud that we couldn't even speak to each other without shouting. They need to do something to mitigate the intense noise. It was almost painful. The table next to us mentioned the noise as they were leaving, so we should have been well forewarned. We would not go back there even though the food was decent
