I go by this restaurant times but its actually first time to try. They claim they are Hong Kong style, and yeah their menu is. What I order are fried wonton, noodle on soup and egg dessert and they are definitely able to reflect how good a traditional HK restaurant is. First, from the expectations of a native people in HK or Southern China, what we say shrimp wonton usually mean shrimp and pork wonton behind the scene. But what they do is exactly literal and that loses some deep flavor and texture of the original(or maybe their wonton has too little pork that I can't even taste it out). Although they fry it well and it's crunchy enough to feel like kind of tasty, it won't change the fact that the balance between shrimp and pork of fried wonton is the most vivid point on it. Second, the noddle is hand-made that I can tell but it loses the most important flavor as it should be as HK style noodle, the "alkaline" flavor. It's probably because they consider that the American might not like this flavor and I understand. The last is the dessert, I can tell not much except it's not that sweet and it could be a good last dish. Overall, as a traditional HK restaurant, I will give 3 stars. But respectfully, as an American HK restaurant, 4 or maybe 4.5 stars.
I love this place... every time I'm craving for some good wonton noodles, this place never fails to deliver.... service is pretty quick and most importantly the food is awesome !
After everyone raving about the fried fish cake, I made my way to try. It was popping hot but way too greasy. The fish cake were lack of texture. Very disappointed. Also had the dumplings trios noodle soup, it was ok. Nothing worth to write home about. The food were served in disposable bowls and plates. A big turn off for enjoyment. Used to be my favorite Cantonese noodles shop but sadly I may not return.
