Fantastic views of London and it’s free to go up there. We dined in the Darwin Brasserie, service was first class, food was delicious and very well presented, will definitely be back. Highly recommend this restaurant, absolutely loved it.
I booked a slot in the Sky Pod Bar for 21.45 because we wanted to see London at night. So as to take full advantage we decided to arrive early to be able to walk around and take in the atmosphere before having drinks and a nibble. Arriving at the entrance there was a queue for walk-in guests so I walked over to the guy at the entrance showed him my reservation and he guided us to the front desk to be booked in. Must admit, it did make us seem special.  Passing through security we took the lift to the 35th floor. As the doors opened what we saw took out breaths away. Wonderful greenery with that view across London. It was difficult not to be astounded. After a while. At about 20.45 things went a little haywire and took some of the cream off our visit. We sat at a table and I went to the bar to buy a couple of cocktails. That mixologist was fantastic. She knew her trade and my martini was perfect. Sitting at the table, drinking, we were approached by a young lady who told us that at 21.00 all tables were reserved and we would have to move. I explained we had a booking which she checked telling us to come over to her station where we will be booked in at 21.00 and moved to a better table. Fair enough. 21.00 came along and she was nowhere to be seen. So I waited. I was then approached by a male server and asked to move tables, I assumed this was what the young lady had arranged. The table was at the back.  After another 10 minutes we were asked to vacate the reserved tables. Totally confusing. I, again, explained that I had a reservation. He checked my name and time. Apologised and moved us to a table by the window. Now, at last everything was perfect and the rest of the evening was brilliant. Cocktails were second to none. I love very dry vodka martinis and they cam up trumps. My partner fell in love with their New Old Fashioned. A platter of seafood was shared by us with so much food we spent a long time nibbling. Service by the young man was second to none and so attentive to the point that I dropped my fork. Now I'm a 5 second guy, 5 seconds on the floor will do no harm. But, immediately, a new napkinned knife and fork appeared. OK, when booking a table there is a minimum cost of £30 per person at weekends. Have a couple of cocktails and a small platter and that will be covered. I give, even with the reservation muddle, an easy 5 stars. Everything about the experience will stay in my head to the rest of my life.
