First and foremost, Snowy Village Dessert Cafe did a noteworthy job with their social media marketing. Everywhere I looked, especially on Foodie Instagram feeds, I couldn't avoid seeing Snowy Village! The night I went, there were approximately 10 people in line in front of us. In fact, the line was so ridiculous that the store used caution tape and dividers to make a line-up in front of their store. Though having 10 guests ahead of us seemed like a long wait, the line moved quickly and we were seated in 15 minutes. Caution: the store is stuffy and crowded. If you're a sweaty person (like the friend I was with), you probably won't like the temperature and humidity of this place. Hopefully things have changed since the end of summer, but boy was it hot! The cafe is quite small, and the tables are placed very close together. The guests are required to order prior to sitting down, so that's what we did. My friend and I shared a green tea bingsoo with various toppings. Now, about the dessert. For one, I think it's a little overpriced. The portions weren't great for what it's worth, and our dessert was kind of... Watery. I'm also not a huge fan of overloading shaved ice with matcha powder because it just gets gunky and clumpy, but that was what was served. Both my friend and I left Snowy Village feeling underwhelmed with the dessert and service Snowy Village provided. Perhaps it's due to the fact that Snowy Village's social media hype was very extreme, and I was thoroughly disappointed. I was really hoping that Snowy would be my go-to dessert place, but for now it stays near the middle of my list. I might return for a second sampling if someone else suggests it, but there are better places for dessert in Vancouver.
