While on holiday in Christchurch we were craving some home food so we decided to try Southern Spices. We ordered appam, malabari chicken and chicken biriyani. The biriyani was underwhelming and disappointing. The chicken was dry and over cooked. There was not enough gravy or any garnishing and salad considering the high price. The appam and chicken curry was mediocre.

Authentic Kerala/South Indian food is a rare find and these guys have nailed it. Tried the Masala Dosa, Kerala Chicken Fry, Beef Masala and Puttu. Tastes amazing and great service as well.
