Not sure why this place is so lowly rated, we went there as a last resort. To our surprise the food was really good! I loved it!!
Over-priced, less than acceptable customer service, and a very poor response from management to our dismal experience! We had hoped to order a few seafood appetizers, but they were out of those that we inquired about, so we settled for chicken tenders and an order of steamers, totaling $40! The menu described the steamers as a pound or more and we received 7 total steamers, over half of which were tiny: smaller than my pinky finger. We asked the waitress about the quantity and she insisted there was a pound, however as a New Englander who has ordered seafood in lobster pounds and restaurants for decades, this was beyond a joke and we were very disappointed that management’s reaction was defensive and unresponsive as they insisted on charging us, regardless! We at least had the opportunity to warn other potential customers who were checking out the menu on our way out, to spend their money elsewhere, as we cut our losses amd left hungry with a $70 bill for 2 appetizers, 2 sodas and 1 drink.

Catching up on Yelp reviews from my New England vacation back in mid-October. I found Stewman's Lobster Pound as the guy of America's Parks (Vlogger on YouTube) went here with his daughter and I watched their videos about Acadia National Park. I have never had a full lobster and that is one thing I wanted to do in Maine. Stewman's was a huge place with lots of seating and plenty of outdoor seating right on a pier of the harbor. It was super touristy and I would even call it a tourist trap. But the views were nice and they had a spot where you could look at the lobsters that they catch. So kind of cool! We went at 5pm as we were exhausted from hiking and just wanted something casual and close to our hotel for our last night in Bar Harbor. We were seated right away and COVID precautions were in place. We ordered the Spinach Artichoke Dip and it came out super quickly. Funny thing is that the guy of America's Park said the exact same thing and mentioned about his chicken sandwich arrived so quickly. Ok cool because we were starving. The chips were crispy, solid, and way too plentiful. But the Spinach Artichoke Dip literally tasted like it was from a frozen package from TGI Friday's that you grab at a grocery store... And the portion was insanely small for $14. My Dad and I both ordered the Lobster experience, which was like $42. It came with a 1.5 lb lobster (seemed a little small), mussels, clam chowder, and a slice of blueberry pie. So actually a good amount of food and I think the price was decent. The clam chowder had ok flavor, but it also tasted like it was left on simmer on the stove as it was very lukewarm. The reason why I have never eaten a full lobster is because it's a lot of work for a super small amount of food so I prefer lobster rolls. And Stewman's was no different. I thought the meat was solid, but it was not even close to as good as what I experienced in Portland, ME. The butter was lukewarm when it arrived and you really needed a small bunsen burner to keep it warm. I thought the mussels were good and probably the best part of the lobster experience. The last dish was the blueberry pie with a scoop of ice cream on the top. I am not much of an ice cream fan, but the vanilla ice cream was either the best or the 2nd best part of the lobster experience. The blueberries were good, but the pie crust was insanely dry. Thank God we decided to get the scoop of ice cream!   Price was a little expensive for the portion sizes especially $14 for the Spinach Artichoke Dip, but I think they were fair since it was lobster. Our waiter was subpar as he seemed to be in a grumpy mood and didn't ask if we need anymore drinks or anything else other than the check. It is what it is. Overall, I thought the lobster experience was pretty meh. I don't regret coming here as I still got to experience my first full lobster and I was willing to give it a try. But Stewman's Lobster Pound is definitely a tourist trap so if you go into it with those expectations then you will be A OK. My review is really a borderline 1-2 and not everything was bad, but I would definitely try lobster somewhere else the next time I am visiting MDI.
