If you're serious about steak, if you're serious about a date night out, and if you're serious about having great meals, then you need to go to Strip at Solaire. The interiors, the chef's table, the quality meat, the Hokkaido scallops, and the extensive wine list are all top of the line. Even dessert is something it can brag about. I've been to Strip on a few occasions, all of them swanky little events. So between the wine dinners and press launches, my favorite has to be the Chef's Table experience. That is, just me and the chef on a table by the kitchen. All of my dishes prepared a la minute, with a little background story to the dish here and there. The chef, Eric Turgeon, is a young guy; Canadian, if I'm not mistaken. He, like all other chefs in the Philippines, has been sourcing local products and incorporating that into his international menu. So on one course or another, I would have local variants of "chocolate" tomatoes, or brown/purplish cherry tomatoes that have a distinct taste. I thought that was a pretty nice touch. You can avail of a six-course dinner for a minimum of two persons and maximum of four at Strip. Prices will vary depending on whether you avail of wine with your dinner, or if you have any dietary restrictions that might affect the menu. Usually, the menu is not announced beforehand. It's about the chef's specials of the day, about what he can whip from what he has in the kitchen. Part experiment, part best seller. Speaking of best sellers - before I forget. The star of the show at Strip is the steak. And as a carnivore, it has never disappointed. On occasions I would treat myself to a steak dinner, this is the first place that comes to mind. As if that needed reiterating, but just to assure you. Sure it comes with a price tag, but if you love and know your steak, you know there's no other way. It's all just a matter of whether it's worth it, and at Strip it is.

Was out on a date one night and with both of us loving food, we decided to try Strip Hollywood Steakhouse. The interiors are a bit dark, giving the place an intimate, romantic feel, despite the tables that can very well accommodate groups. We were first served pieces of their complimentary bread, and boy, it was good! The brown bread was delicious on it's own already, and even more so when their herbed butter is slathered onto it. It was good that our salad and steak arrived already, or else I would have gotten full just from the bread. Strip is one of the first few restaurants I've eaten at that serves food in wooden boards and theirs is just perfect because it has those canals around so that the juice doesn't spill-over onto the table. Anyway, our steak was just so very good! Tender and tasty, I didn't put any of the condiments onto it. It tasted of salt and black pepper, just the perfect basics of a good steak. They aren't just deserving of having "Hollywood" on their name, they deserve to have a star on Hollywood's Avenue of Stars!

I love my steak. That is all. Strip Steakhouse at Solaire was surprisingly nothing short of amazing. It takes balls to consider yourself a steakhouse since grilling your steak to utmost perfection isn't an easy thing to learn. Props to Strip Steakhouse for nailing our beef - cooked exactly the way we wanted it. For starters, we ordered the Caesar salad with white anchovies, roasted garlic and caper berries. It was so good. SO GOOD. We had ordered the Black Angus Top Sirloin. It's not the best part, but because of the way it was cooked and prepared, the meat was really soft. It wasn't the chewy, bubble gum kind of sirloin. Oh and just to let you know, when they serve the Black Angus Top Sirloin, there's a chunk of bone on the side...still with the marrow in it...with a marrow scooper (refer to the photo I posted). It was heaven. As for our sides, we got the truffled corn and creamy mash. And for sauces, we chose peppercorn, bearnaise and truffle cream. Lastly, our dessert - we got the dark chocolate mousse with caramel sand, torched banana and macadamia nuts. This one was heaven on earth as well. Strip being a steakhouse, expect it to be really pricey, but after eating, you'll realize that you got your money's worth. We were truly satisfied with what we ordered. We definitely stepped out of the restaurant with smiles on our faces :)
