There is quite a bit of Southern cookin going on in this North Liberty gem. It started when the wife wanted to try domething new, and my golf buddy suggested the SugaPeach, just down the street from his place on Penn Street. We walked into an empty place at 5 pm, and alarms went off. But meeting the owners and getting help with a Southern menu made everything feel right, The wife and I went the fried chicken route, but we parted ways on the sides. I went traditional with the mac and cheese, collards, and cornbread! The collards were cooked in a pork broth with bacon/ham pieces and were fresh and flavorful, the mac was outstanding and I could have downed an entire sheet of the cornbread. The chicken was lightly dredged and fried crispy, which works in Iowa or Bama! I couldn't start to pick my fav item on my plate, and they also feature Catfish! With the excellent service, the tolerence to educate a couple of rookie diners and the best soulfood in the area, ya know I'm headin back for some catfish! Thaks everyone!
