If you feel hungry after visiting Der Aa-kerk, have a meal at this restaurant. Sumo is a right choice if you are in the mood for the Japanese cuisine. Nicely cooked sushi, tempura and beef have an appetizing taste. Many guests come here to enjoy tasty che.
The friendly staff works hard, stays positive and makes this place wonderful. The prompt service demonstrates a high level of quality at this place. You will certainly like the comfortable atmosphere.

Expecting Worst service? Go there. Also name changed. Same address but it says YASUMI. If maki is your thing, and don't care about anything else then it might be for yiu. If you are a group, go somewhere else. You will spend lots of money for worst service you can have. Sushi restaurant has French fries. Go figure. Almost everything has sugar in it.

It's busy, it's all you can eat but it's also your best choice for affordable and decent sushi in this town. Our friends and family love it and it's always a fun time. Leave your snobby ideas about japanese food at home and make use of their weekdays and lunch specials. Do count on a loud and crowded scene in the weekends.

I was on the fence about giving Sumo three or a four stars. It is a little pricey, and I have definitely had better sushi, but the food is certainly fine. I'm not complaining about the sushi, just noting that it is not top echelon. Sumo offers a fixed price menu, though it does have more options than do most such menus. The reason I finally opted for four stars instead of three is the decor - the dining room is quite attractive - and the staff. They were very attentive even though the restaurant was rather busy when we visited, and were happy to explain everything. Oh, and the restaurant takes Discover card, which is rare for Groningen :)
