The sushi here is an insult to the Japanese culinary art. They have no passion or quality in food, nor in service. I understand that the Nogalense have liked this concept since they opened and that is why they have accepted and acclimatized to that “sushi”. I could write a letter of all the bad things I saw in this restaurant but I prefer to leave it like that and never return. I just want to adhere to some orders that the waiter brought wrong and were returned and at the end they wanted to charge us for something that we didn’t order and we did not consume.

Sushi has an interesting history in Nogales, Sonora and Sushi  House was one of the first. They have at least two locations and you'll see their fleet of motors all over the city delivering. Their main location is on Calle Hermosillo  and their other location is centro on Calle Obregon near the Olivia Hotel. This is where I ate from this evening and I carried out. I don't enjoy writing a poor review where I live, basically I'll just avoid the task and not piss anyone off as a rule. The restaurant is shabby with zero ambiance and it was not clean I noticed. As always when ordering Sushi it was a weekday and I asked what was fresh. I was told salmon and we all know that is not fresh in the desert. The manager had the audacity to tell me this. I thanked him and looked at the meager offerings that were uninspiring. Any specials? "Nope". Specialty of the house is a roll for 85 pesos with salmon, shrimp, avocado and of course the requisite Philadelphia cream cheese that many sushi houses here are enamored with. This in itself should warn you about the sushi. Nogales is in the same state as Guaymas and the large fishing fleets of the Sea of Cortez (Gulf of California for gringos). Guaymas has world class seafood and there is no excuse for Nogales not to benefit from this. I ordered two rolls and paid, did an errand and returned as they put the two plastic containers on the counter. They were kind enough to bring it to me on the sidewalk where my scooter was idling. Most sushi in Nogales comes with soy in a container and a somewhat spicy mayonnaise dip in another. I opened the first container that held something that looked like my roll (if you stretch your imagination). It was decent size 12 pieces, one each of the soy and mayo, no ginger or wasabi and there was some tired carrot slivers. I noticed something black and investigated and yep, it was the avocado. remember Mexico is the King of avocados, yet not this rare rancid one. The shrimp looked OK albeit a tiny quantity. Likewise the salmon was meager, there was a mushy cucumber too that I forgot to mention. I've eaten sushi all over the world for half a century, but this scared me. Finally, i decided I'd try one and I tried to snag it with my chopsticks, I am quite proficient with the sticks yet this piece fell apart and believe it or not it was warm. I tried another and another and decided to dissect the pulp that was growing on the plastic container. I eventually did get one with a less tired cucumber, and green (er) avocado on a fork. I took a few chews and decided discretion was the better part of valor.. I spit it out, took a peak at the same mess in the second container and deposited it where it deserved, in the toilet and flushed. I had briefly thought about the street for the nourishment of the cats or dogs roaming, but even I could not be that cruel.
