I love this place. It doesn't look like much but it's authentic in both the food and personality. It's a family run place and the ramen is just fantastic. It's not fancy but it warms the body and soul. Would recommend to anyone looking for a casual and affordable meal.
Good place. Service was great, sushi is above average, and ramen is average to meh. The ramen is the only reason I didnt give it a 5/5. The noodles and broth were lacking salt and flavor. I had to jazz mine up with a lot of soy sauce and chili oil to make it good. This place is a great value and I will definitely be returning here as my local sushi spot.
Well, we got in on Monday night and need to find a good place for a quick bite before going to see Christmas-sy NY.  Didn't want to wait to get back into Midtown to find a super-busy-gotta-wait-another-1/2hour-place.  On Yelp!, we settled for the short jaunt to Suzuki Shokudo. We arrived early for the dinner crowd and so was able to talk to the owner and staff to find out they were long time Japanese immigrants, and spent many years in the city. Ramen being all the rage these days, you can find some trendy and fashionable place all over.  Suzuki Shokudo adds their traditional recipe and flavor to the noodle lover's experience.  Having spent a year in Japan many years ago, I was able to sample ramen from small shops and 'fast food' style establishments during my time there, and this is what I tasted here at 'The Shokudo'.  Clean broth and good noodles with the staples; slices of tender chashu, egg, bamboo shoots, green onions, and kikurage (black mushrooms).  And NOT TOO salty - which is unlike  most Neo-Ramen styles that feature heavy flavors and oils.   These are still yummy, but I end up drinking a gallon of water or whatever - and maybe that's the plan. With Shokudo's ramen and you can pick up the bowl and drink the rest of the broth down.  It's refreshing and finishes clean.  It went well enough with the Sushi pair in the set.  And I was super surprised that the Ramen Sushi set cost less then most places with just Ramen!!! As for the sushi, it was prepared well, and the fish was fresh, which is really all you can ask for. We ordered Chirashi and Karage (small fried chicken plate).  The Karage was also 'natsukashii' (reminiscent) of the flavors from Japan.
