I had to update the review below which I posted 3 years ago to say that we have been back every single year and the food, the welcome, the atmosphere and the experience are all just as good as ever. No trip to Málaga is complete without a trip to La Barra de Zapata.This is a really wonderful restaurant. You definitely need to book and I can see why it's so popular. We were made to feel welcome straight away. The whole menu was explained in a clear and friendly way and the food.... Wow! The truffle risotto is amongst the best I've ever had and the grilled octopus was just excellent. Everything we ate was perfect and we also had some really lovely wine at only €15 for the bottle. We had a truly memorable meal; we'll be back.

Totally disappointing. Very average food - tasteless sauce and foam are more style than substance and bring little to the party. Service was atrocious - completely ignored for 25 minutes while they busied themselves wiping tables.
