Great authentic tacos and tortas. Salsas are a little weak but good
Love coming here and so glad they are close! They have really great food! One of the first places I've had that has tacos close to home (Cali) and that's saying a lot for MN lol
If there were another cuisine I had to choose as my favorite other than Chinese, I'd have to choose Mexican. Much like Chinese food, Mexican food has been bastardized, and often, a singular dish emerges as the foremost image in most peoples' heads of what that cuisine is. For Mexican food, this is the taco. I'll be honest, the tacos are just about the only thing I've had at Taqueria La Hacienda. In my defense, it IS a taqueria. I look forward to trying their quesadillas and tortas, but Taqueria La Hacienda just makes their tacos so good, I almost don't want to try anything else because I crave their tacos that much. Their al pastor is no joke, and the pineapples are a must. I don't care if you hate pineapples, the pineapples make the tacos al pastor. They're good without it, but the pineapples add a nice sweetness that pairs well with the spice of the al pastor. What I appreciate about La Hacienda as well, is their selection of meats for tacos. They have your staples - barbacoa, carne asada, tinga, chorizo, carnita. They even have shrimp and fish. But they also have stomach. And beef tongue, which is deliciously tender and definitely one of my new favorites. The price on these tacos can't be beat either, and make it extremely affordable to go there constantly. Their platters are also pretty good, although I'm not a huge fan of refried beans to begin with. Their horchata is nice and smooth as well, and if their salsa was spicier, it would be a delicious pairing to take away the heat. I can't wait to come back and try some of their other selections. I've also been to their Minneapois location, which is open 24/7 on the weekends, and is just as fantastic as their Burnsville location. We're very fortunate in the Twin Cities to have many great Mexican restaurants to choose from, but La Hacienda has my vote for the best tacos.
