Stayed here a few times and will again in the future..fab staff .plenty of choice for breakfasts ..terrace rooms poolside spacious and comfortable..good location near to everything ..highly recommend Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5

I had my daughter's christening at the hotel and I loved it, the staff were super careful, always attentive to everything and concerned about the well-being of the guests, 5 stars. I still stayed the night at the hotel and once again everything was perfect, from the room to breakfast, wonderful pool, staff, I recommend it to everyone. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Luxury, Great view, Romantic, Quiet, Kid-friendly, Great value

The Pestana Carlton Madeira boasts 5 stars in travel agencies' catalogs, and certainly this hotel used to have such a status, but be prepared for the fact that today it no longer receives the qualities commensurate with this rating. In terms of construction, it still fulfills what a hotel of this level is supposed to fulfill, but during your stay you will encounter or deal with many cases where maintenance is lacking, material change is neglected or something does not work as it should. On the other hand, the employees do everything they can for the comfort and convenience of the guests, they are pleasant and professional. However, their efforts are hampered by washed and holey towels and bed linen, sometimes missing spoons at breakfast, empty spaces for flower boxes or similar trifles. Perhaps it is only at breakfast that you can meet a waiter who does not speak English, but not even Portuguese!!! What can you say that the cleanliness is really exemplary when some light bulbs don't light up, some elevator numbers are missing or some chairs were remembered by many guests and deserve to be repaired or replaced. In the room, prepare for non-functioning parts of the furniture, on the other hand, a comfortable mattress. So, how would I sum it up - the Pestana Carlton Madeira hotel is beautiful, but don't expect 5* quality. If the management worked on the maintenance and care of the equipment, they could again aspire to the said rating. But what can be tolerated in a 3* hotel and forgiven in a 4* hotel cannot be overlooked in the 5* category. And maybe just a pearl at the end - the parking lot is free, which is great, but do you have to pay to check a person or a suitcase in the hotel lobby? Rooms: The rooms bear traces of an earlier renovation date, but are pleasant and spacious. But be prepared for the fact that lecsos no longer works as it should, the cabinet cannot be opened, the place for the flower is empty. Some equipment does not work, there are signs of deterioration.
