We really had a good time at the tea house. The ambiance was so cozy that we ended up staying for 2 hours. It was my mother in law's birthday, and the staff was really incredible - they even brought out a free birthday cake for her! The food was amazing and the pricing was very reasonable. Located in Stanley Park you can enjoy walking around after your meal Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

There are two types of good restaurants: the kind you come to for the food and the kind you come to for the service (and I'm talking the kind of service where you darn near want to invite the waiter to join you because they're so personable and attentive). Very rarely do those realms cross. When John is your server and you're eating at the Teahouse in Stanley Park - you've found that perfect experience. Not to mention a gorgeous environment! From the moment we arrived, we had the loveliest hostess. She was able to seat us early on the patio so we got to enjoy the gorgeous sunset. From the minute we met John, we knew we were in for a treat. From the first bite, we realized we were in for a whole experience. We started with the burrata and cheese plate. Both spectacular. The crostini accompanying the cheese plate had some sort of heavenly olive oil on it that we failed to get the name of, but that I'm sure to dream about for the rest of my life. I had the halibut. There aren't words, really, to describe just how delicious it was. My friend ordered the broccolini and truffle fries. Both amazing. But by far the best truffle fries I've ever had. And the Dijon aioli (best guess) was superb. We also ended up with the Brussels sprouts and that was a whole new experience. I love Brussels sprouts, and these were no exception, but I've never had them prepared quite this way. To finish, there was the lemon tarte, the chocolate Milano cake, and crème brûlée. The lemon tarte was perfectly refreshing. The chocolate Milano cake was decadent. And the crème brûlée? I've only ever had it better one time in the whole of my existence (and I've had A LOT of crème brûlée. At the end of the day, while the food was some of the best we've ever had (and will certainly hold fond memories for years to come), John's charisma, knowledge of the menu, and overall service will stay with us. It was the kind of meal when you're sad you don't live locally, so you know you won't see him again unless you make a trip back to Vancouver. Needless to say, I'll be making a trip back to Vancouver. If only to hang out with John again (and to get more of that crème brûlée).
