Great place, awesome atmosphere and service.
Fabulous people. Wonderful attention to what you are looking for but the food was, eh, okay. Overcook steak, not enough staff to accommodate are group.
Due to the turmoil in Hong Kong, I canceled my birthday lunch celebration at the Hong Kong Peninsula Hotel and my second choice was The Capital Grille in Austin as they possess similar customer satisfaction qualities as The Peninsula, in my opinion. I arrived promptly at 11:45 a.m. for my reservation and was warmly greeted and wished a Happy Birthday by hostess Tristan who led me to my table that had a birthday card from The Capital Grill awaiting my presence. Next I was greeted by my server extraordinaire Dave, who also welcomed me with birthday greetings then took my order for an Old Fashioned to get the party started. Three years ago, I celebrated my birthday with Sir Larry and Lady Karen here at The Capital Grille and as we were leaving, the executive chef passed us with French Onion soup and as much as we wanted to return to our table and order it, we were too stuffed to execute that mission so today I completed that mission and ordered it and believe me, it was deliciousness beyond measure. For my entree, I order the Bone-In Dry Aged NY 14 oz strip, the sides offered were not very mouth watering so Dave suggested the SOY GLAZED BRUSSELS SPROUTS WITH BACON, sprouts with smoked bacon lardons. All of these delectable delights paired most exquisitely with the Fisher Unity Cabernet Sauvignon that server Dave also suggested. For my birthday dessert, I was gifted with an elegant platter ladened with the Classic Crème Brûlée and Flourless Chocolate Espresso Cake to which I added a double espresso and Drambuie. I want to thank Jasmine Peterson and her most attentive and astounding staff for a most memorable and enjoyable birthday lunch, I will most  definitely be returning, before my next birthday!
