So it is Wagyu & Wine Week at Capitol Grill and if you are not familiar the Wine by the glass cost you more than the Wagyu and Wine combo and with one of the wines being Stags Leap "The Investor" 2014. Keep this time of the year in your head and if you have not been to Wagyu & Wine, this is one exception you should go to the Capitol Grill. Sit in the bar area as it is the only place to get the combo and sit and relax. The bartenders here are very cordial. Enjoy!
This is a shout out to Samara behind the bar!   I called in today just shy of 11AM (their kitchen doesn't open until 11:30AM, FYI) and asked if they'd mind going ahead and entering my take away order for a business lunch.  Samara, behind the bar, got on the phone as cheerful as you like, and took my order (missing no detail, by the way), and told me that it would probably be ready around 11:45-11:50am. Now, I have ordered lots of take away meals from The Capital Grille, and never have I ever been able to walk in, pick up, and leave without a hitch... This is NOT a slam on the restaurant at all... it's because my office usually orders something off-menu or our orders are HUGE ... Suffice it to say, we almost always succeed in throwing someone off the rails somewhere along the way... today's order was no different... HOWEVER, there was no long wait today!  There was ONE order of truffle fries missing, but Samara had it in my bag and me out the door in record time... I was back to my office feeding people by NOON!  I couldn't believe it, and I COULD NOT have done it without Samara and the wonderful kitchen team at The Capital Grille! Thank you SO much for being consistently amazing!
We had dinner here prior to the Frank Sinatra concert with the Symphony.  To start, the bread they bring to the table is REALLY flavorful. It was a variety of bread: pumpernickel, sourdough, roll, and a large cracker. We both ordered malbec wine.  It was decent, not the best, but ok and the only malbec offered. I had a bowl of the lobster bisque which was the featured soup. It was good and had a decent amount of lobster. My fiance got the French onion crock ($10). I don't even normally like French onion soup, but this soup was awesome  ! The flavor of the broth was complex and rich.  The onions were cooked down to yummy goodness and the cheese....ohhhh the cheese. So wonderfully flavored and gooey. We both ordered from the "Chef's suggestions" on the menu.  Mine was the sliced filet mignon over fig, mushrooms, and cipollini onions ($50).  It was very good.  But the real star was the dish my fiance got (why is his always better ? Lol) Two 4 oz seared beef tenderloins with two butter poached lobster tails ($55). The flavors of both were amazing and next time I come back this is what I'm getting. We got the potatoes au gratin ($11) as the side. They were very rich and we couldn't finish the portion given. Our waiter was prompt and got our questions answered. The ambiance is one of the best in Charlotte with dark walls and a leather look. Linen tablecloths and a lamp on each table. We will definitely return.
