I've been to the Fish Friar twice now, and my mouth is still watering. I've had the scallop roll both times because it's so delicious (and because they haven't had lobster when I've been there). The first time we went, we started with calamari and then had entrees, but definitely didn't need the appetizer to be full. The entree alone is the perfect size and the bun it came on was delicious. Not only is the food great, but excellent beer choices too! For a limited amount of drafts, they definitely pick top notch beers to carry. The last time I was there, I enjoyed a pint of Prison City's Cool Hand Cuke - delicious!
Small seafood place downtown. We went for the lobster but it wasn't ready so we settled for the scallop sandwich. It was very fresh and tasty.
I took advantage of having to go to Syracuse for an appointment and tried The Fish Friar for the first time. I am very happy with my experience and will definitely be going back. My server, Derek, was the only server due to some call ins. I was nervous when I heard this because I anticipated dreadfully slow service or being rushed through my meal to clear my table. Neither was the case. I had a beautifully paced meal. I tried Critz Farms' Four Screw Cider for a drink and for my meal I had the Spicy Shrimp Po' Boy, mac salad and rice pilaf. I also sampled the mushy peas. The cider was a nice light and refreshing drink on such a warm spring day. The shrimp and spicy mayo were excellent! I also really enjoyed mac salad. The mushy peas were surprisingly flavorful. I would say the rice pilaf could use a bit more flavor but it was not terrible. I am looking forward to coming back and trying more menu options. I hear the fish sandwiches and lobster rolls are amazing. Yum! Big thanks to Derek for wonderful service in spite of circumstances.
