Please be aware, they are not open. I showed up to their bar and called their phone multiple times, no one answered and the location is empty!

This is/was my favorite bar in Boston. As long as it’s still listed as only “temporarily” closed I’m going to hold out hope it’ll be back in my post-pandemic life, but I’m starting to despair. By far the best craft beer selection in the city. On top of that, delicious food and amazing atmosphere.

A true gastropub in every positive aspect, even if the term sounds pretentious to some. Start with a gigantic beer menu - two pages' worth of small print, in fact. What's great is that there are not only solid New England craft offerings but also well-curated choices from all over the country and the world that you can sample in the form of flights. I ended up ordering two and especially enjoyed the Notch zwickel, the Medusa Polar Vortex stout, the Springdale Good n' You IPA, the Mast Landing Double Dry Hopped Tell Tale Pale Ale, and the Mast Landing Gunner's Daughter stout. If a particular draft offering was sold out, the bartenders were able to come up with exceptional suggestions for substitutions. And, of course, as any self-respecting gastropub should, there's a solid food offering here that's several notches above divey pub fare. Restaurant-quality, in fact. There should be something for everyone, whether burgers, poutine, fried chicken sliders, hummus, or even dessert. The venue itself is gorgeous. It's very wood-paneled and high-ceilinged and feels like it used to be a bank lobby. There's a huge, airy main room where the bar is as well as a more formal-looking back room that looks like it could be a sit-down dining area or a room for private functions. Moreover, as alluded to already, service is exceptional here. Warm, proactive, and just top-notch all around. With quality venues like the Ginger Man firing on all cylinders, there's no reason to patronize a stodgy Downtown Crossing-area rival when, in the latter case, certain bearded, middle-aged staff there act as if they're God's gift to mankind and feel like they can be total a**holes as a result.
