The lady there is absolutely disrespectful. Halifax Cafe used to be great with hospitality but now the current management and staff is just revolting! Price per person: NZ$40–50 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

From other recent reviews it appears we experienced similar dissatisfaction with food and service. As a local we want to support our Nelson businesses but this is the third time we have experienced bad food and poor service. I wished to order lambs fry and bacon but was told they didn't serve it. When I asked why it was on the menu the waitress said she didn't know. I then asked for the fish and a toasted sandwich with cheese, mushroom and bacon. After a lengthy wait the fish came not with a rosti as advertised but some very dry chips. The fish wasn't in one piece but several very small dried up bites that were mainly overcooked batter. My toasted sandwich was very thin sandwich bread, not toast bread with what appeared to be one mushroom thinly sliced to cover both pieces of bread and the bacon consisted of four small pieces again spread across the two pieces of bread. I'm still searching for the cheese which was so minimal as to be virtually nonexistent! The waitress was moving around the tables with a dirty cloth and a bowl full of dirty water wiping tables as diners ate and as others have commented shouting across the cafe to staff behind the counter. Sorry Halifax three times of poor service and poor food are enough. We won't be back.
