The Lost Kitchen, a rustic fine dining spot located in Freedom, Maine, specializes in locally sourced cuisine with a farm-to-table approach. The establishment's ambiance is warm and welcoming, with an emphasis on creating an intimate and personal dining experience. The interior design is charming and rustic, featuring vintage decor and an open kitchen that allows diners to watch the chefs at work.
The price range at The Lost Kitchen is on the higher end, but it is well worth the cost for the exceptional quality of food and service. The establishment is located in a secluded area, which adds to its charm and exclusivity. Special features include outdoor seating and a cozy bar area where guests can enjoy handcrafted cocktails and a selection of local wines.
Some of the standout dishes on the menu include the halibut, prepared to perfection with a delicate balance of flavors, and the creative take on borscht. The salad is a delightful surprise, with deep-fried capers replacing traditional croutons. The oysters, always on the prix fix menu, are artistically displayed and impressive, although some guests would appreciate having other options.
For drinks, guests can choose from a selection of local wines, such as the crisp and refreshing Sancerre from France or the full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon from California. Handcrafted cocktails, like the refreshing gin and tonic with cucumber and lime, are also a must-try. For non-alcoholic options, the establishment offers a variety of soft drinks, including house-made lemonade and iced tea.
Overall, The Lost Kitchen is a must-visit establishment for anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience that celebrates local ingredients and exceptional culinary skills.

Lovely lunch at the Lost Kitchen. Beautiful setting, friendly staff and owners. We got there early, the line was not too long. The menu of food was great. The shop was also very nice in the mill building. A memorable experience.

I was so excited to learn that the Lost Kitchen is serving lunch now, but the actual experience didn’t live up to the hype. The fried chicken was under seasoned. The Cole slaw was really basic green cabbage with a bland dressing. I had to ask 3 times how to get tap water. When I finally got the water, the only cup that was provided was a silly paper cone. Come on! If I spend $80 on lunch for 2 people, I should be able to get a glass of water without it being weird. We happen to be there on a rainy day, so there wasn’t a line and we were served promptly.

We had a great experience at the Little Lost Kitchen for lunch. We arrived around 10:15, and were able to order lunch shortly after they opened. Every item we had was fantastic. Our rankings of the 3 were 1) fried chicken, 2) heirloom tomatoes and 3) summer Caesar. Would definitely come back here again- worth the drive!
