Terrible experience at the Macintosh last Friday night. We were a group of 11 women, in town for a bachelorette weekend. They couldn't seat us at our reservation start time at 9:00. That was OK. They took us upstairs and gave us complimentary wine and we ordered snacks. About 15-20 mins later they took us down to seat us in a semi-private room with another large group of women - probably another bachelorette group. So far, no big deal. But then we sat down, they gave us menus, and when the waiter came he immediately took them away. A few of us told him, no, we want to order for ourselves. He refused. He told us, oh don't worry I've got you, I'll just bring you out platters of food. He asked us to raise our hands if we wanted duck. We said no. He asked us if we liked steak and swordfish, we half heartedly said sure. Those were the last questions he actually asked us. He proceeded to bring out more food than we could ever eat. Random salads, fish sliders, multiple plates of just vegetables and rice, and several huge platters of steak and swordfish. The food was fine but not what we would have ordered, and certainly not the quantity we would have ordered. It honestly seemed like it was just the food they had left over at the end of the night that they couldn't sell. And when the bill came it was a jaw-dropping $800! We'd ordered 2-3 bottles of wine and a few cocktails. But the rest of it was $150 for 3 swordfish, $200 for 5 steaks, and hundreds of dollars worth of unnecessary and lackluster sides. I asked him to clarify the bill but he was unapologetic. It was insulting and infuriating. Honestly, was this because we were women, or simply because we were a big group? If we had asked him to choose our food, then we'd rightfully have to put up with being overcharged and overserved. But we'd asked for menus and were denied. The only reason for 2 stars instead of 1 is that they were nice and apologetic at the beginning when we had to wait. I would never go back here and would definitely recommend no one take a group over 6 people here. Follow up to manager 5/1/19: Thank you for your reply. Yes, you can contact me about my review.
