We went The Malt House because it was across from our hotel. I had fish tacos, they were delicious. I didn't give 5 stars because the music was so loud that you cannot even have a conversation without shouting. But overall it was a good experience. If I stay downtown area next time, I probably order to go instead of dine in.
Come to this place after work, the beer is excellent, the whiskies numerous, and the ambience is dark and chic. The menu looks good, a lot of flavorful dishes are listed, but there was something off about my food, terribly reheated. This was a perfect spot for a late night date, and I would consider going back on the weekend for their bottomless brunch. I recognized some of the menu items, like the cabbage salad, from another local spot, and I didn't like it there so I didn't order it here even though I really wanted a salad. The salad options were very weird, a sweet summer strawberry salad (in winter) or this crunchy cabbage salad. I could have gone for a simple garden salad or some sort of vegetable dish. Avoid this place at all costs if you are vegan or allergic to dairy because there is cheese on every single item, even items without cheese listed, and the (V)s on the menu refer to cheesy vegetarian items, definitely not vegan. If you want flavorful bar food, chill ambience, and good drinks, this is a good spot. If you like fresh food and you're looking for a good meal maybe go somewhere else, there are a lot of options in this neighborhood, even late night.
Went there for brunch last week. Wasn't too busy at the time but still decided to sit at the bar. The bartender was so sweet, professional and attentive during our stay (blond hair, this past Sunday brunch shift, sorry I forgot your name). I ordered the chicken and waffles open sandwich dish with a side of eggs. I'm a little person and almost finished the entire thing it was so delicious. My friend ordered the brisket benedict dish and definitely finished theirs. We ordered simple drinks but it still tasted fresh and not juiced down. I'd definitely go there again, it might be more interesting if it were busy. The only down side would be there's only 2 TVs, 1 at each end of the bar so if your going there to watch a game hopefully your lucky enough to get an end seat. But still, nice ambiance and furniture.
