My wife and I dined with friends at the Milling Room two nights ago.  It was a most unpleasant experience.  We were prepared for it to be loud -- and it was.  We weren't prepared for poor quality, expensive food and questionable service. To begin with, when I tried to order a Prime steak, I asked that it be prepared "plain."  But I was told it only came after being marinated in pepper sauce.  If I had wished pepper steak, I would ordered it.  Instead they suggested I have a hamburger.  "Cheeseburger?", I asked.  No, it only came as a hamburger.  "Fries?" -- "Yes"  I got fries but they were soggy and cold.  They replaced them, of course.  But not until I had finished my burger. I was not the only one to find the kitchen and server wanting.  My friend ordered caramelized Brussels sprouts.  They were so over spiced as to be inedible.  When she asked the server why this was so, it was explained that hers was the last of the sprouts and had probably been "scraped off the bottom of the pan" thereby scooping up too much sauce. There is nothing wrong with a little bit of honesty at a restaurant.  But if they are prepared to tell you the truth about their kitchen, they should make some amends [I suggested, with a laugh, that my friend be "compted" for the vegetable.  The server remained stone faced].
Delicious dinner and great atmosphere!! Everything we ate was so good. Highly recommend. We will definitely be returning soon!
Great meal but without a doubt worst bartenders ever, they literally act as if you do not  exist even though they are standing around doing nothing. Come on guys, don't you work for tips? There is no so thing as job security, step it up fellas...
