Came here as part of our cheesesteak tour of Philly 2020-2021 (temporarily interrupted by Covid but we are back!) Tony Luke's is the reigning champion right now, with Dalessandros as a strong second. We are still talking about the rolls. I also got chili fries. Get the chili fries!! Be prepared to stand in line for a while, with a large amount of that time out in the elements. I got the chicken cheesesteak (American wit and hot and sweet peppers) and my husband got a regular cheesesteak (American wit and hot peppers). This is the place we will bring visitors whenever people travel again and they say they want to have a Philly Cheesesteak

Thank you so much Mariellen for that review

Lived in South Philly for years (3rd and Catherine)-daughter born in Philly. Must have gone here 100 X and have taken my daughter and her friends many times. One of the best Italian diner\hoagie shops in the US (except for, maybe, the late great original Shank and Evelyn's on 10th). Have not been in a long time, and miss this place. Man, was the roast pork and greens great-everything was great-cheesesteaks, chicken parm...They used crusty bread from that great bakery in the Italian Market up the street from Ralph's. So why write about it now? Talking to my daughter the other day who is still in Philly and she mentioned that this place may have closed. Apparently it hasn't. On a somewhat desolate corner of Oregon near the highway. Started years ago as a diner stop for truckers and took off. I was just driving by one day around 1990 and decided to stop on a whim. No one there but me and a couple of truckers. WOW. Then in a few years the place started to get a name and the big lines appeared. No matter, because great service. So had to write a review to urge anyone who is in Philly for any reason, like work, GO HERE. (Too bad if you missed Shank's, but that's another story.)
