Awesome lunch. Four of us arrived in this beautiful town and were hungry but had done no research on restaurants. We walked into Torgid restaurant in the main square and were greeted right away and were told there is a lunch buffet with pizza and lamb chops. The price was about 2400 Krona per person. (About $20 each which is a deal if you know food prices in Iceland). They actually had 4 types of lamb on the buffet, plus soup, salad, bread and pizza. We all enjoyed it very much, and they even offered us coffee to go as part of the lunch. We re-fueled just in time to climb the waterfall that is down a gravel road just before the tunnel as we left town. One of our favorite meals (and towns) in Iceland.

Found the place on TripAdvisor hoping for good local food. So we walked in and the kid working looked at us like we crapped in his cereal. Now, I understand that Americans are not welcomed sometimes, however I try to be respectful in other countries to help our poor reputation. Two tables were already seated and a wide open restaurant but the kid waiter sits us by the soup bar lol. I’m like ok, it’s post pandemic and I can deal with that. The kid waiter comes around after sitting there for twenty minutes asking us what we want. We asked for two local beers and my wife wasn’t ready to order because we were figuring out the menu. So, we asked about the menu and the waiter starts talking down to us. I suppose I should’ve taken Icelandic night classes before coming here. Then two more tables sit down and we’re immediately served drinks. We finally give him our order and again, totally ruined his day. So we sat for another ten minutes still no drinks. At this point other tables are being served and we’re just there empty handed. We decided to get up and go somewhere else. Americans avoid here. They don’t like us and unfortunately this beautiful island is wasted on them. I don’t usually rate businesses, but I couldn’t hold back especially since the place is highly rated. If your server is a young kid with glasses and tight jeans turnaround and go to the pizza place.
