After enjoying Eugene Allen Resident, visit this restaurant which is not far away. Among other Ethiopian cuisune places to eat at, Tsehay can be one of the best. Don't forget to degust perfectly cooked beef, braised lamb and lamb stew at this place. Visit this place and try good wine or delicious beer. Enjoy great coffee.

Absolutely delicious food and such a great ambiance! Maya took care of us tonight and helped us pick our amazing food - she also gave us complimentary sambosas bc we were debating between a couple options. I would fully recommend this place especially if it's your first time trying Ethiopian food!

I've been meaning to write a review to Tsehay, but wanted to take some time to formulate the right words to fully encompass my experience at Tsehay. The restaurant first popped up on my radar when I saw it appear on the Michelin Guide. I am obsessed with Ethiopian food so I thought it would be a new, fun place to take my family. I called ahead to confirm if they had adequate indoor seating since we would be a sizable group and thunderstorms were expected the day we were trying to go. The person on the phone assured me that they could seat us inside so I made a reservation for a weekend brunch. Imagine my surprise when we arrived and found out that they actually didn't have the space for us inside so we had to sit outside. No if's, and's, or but's. When it was time to order, we had 3 different people come at separate times to take the same order so it took a very long time to get our food. When the food finally came out, the portion sizes were the smallest that I have ever seen at an Ethiopian restaurant. We ordered at least 5 portions of the vegan combo, but it looked like it was barely 2 portion sizes when it came out. This was intended for 20 people. All of the protein options were super tiny so we had to continually order more. We asked for a few forks since there were some first timers who aren't used to eating with their hands, but the staff refused to supply them since the owner wanted guests to have an authentic experience. Okay, that's understandable... so we asked for a few plates since there were some people seated at the very end of the table and couldn't reach the serving tray. The waiter was extremely curt and just walked away from us. Couldn't even get waters after that since it seemed like the servers just wanted to avoid our table. No injera refills either even though we asked multiple times so we couldn't even finish the tiny portions of food. Even if the food tasted decent (hence the two stars), the service and portion sizes left a very sour taste in our mouths. Needless to say we will not be returning - your money will be better spent at another Ethiopian spot. Not to mention our family brunch was ruined when thunderstorms rolled in mid-brunch and we all got soaked - thanks Tsehay!

Jessica, I understand that the owner has reached out to you directly is yelp regarding your reservation details and hope to get more information about your visit to better understand your review and better ourselves. As of now we don’t have any record of your reservation and if it’s a large party (8+) we consider them as an event so you would have definitely talked to our events manager, if you called and asked if we had tables available and if at the time we did we never guarantee walk-ins a space and I don’t think any restaurant does, we try our best to accommodate all our guests to the best of our ability. Our restaurant is different from many other Ethiopian restaurants for a variety of reasons, and our portions are smaller because of the quality of the ingredients we source locally and is also stated on the menu including actual weight of the non vegan items and options to add sides for vegan selections. As for our service we are behind our outstanding front and back of the house team, they excel at every new interaction they have with every guest! We are an authentic Ethiopian restaurant we don’t offer forks or side plates and we will continue to do so. We are truly sorry you didn’t enjoy your visit we also believe that we have a certain level of standard we have to maintain and we understand that it’s not for everyone.

I was looking for a cool spot for dinner. I was meeting up with a friend while visiting the city. Decided to give this place a try. Doesn't look like much when you first walk in, but there's a whole seating area in the back with cool decor and a chill atmosphere. We were greeted and seated. A quick look at the menu, we were a bit unsure of what to get. Our server was nice and polite. She did her best to give us suggestions and answers our questions. For appetizers, we had the sambosa. Think meat pie. It was OK, but I will probably pass on it next time. For main entrée, we ordered two plates - a veggie combo plate and a red lamb curry plate. It came with enough Injera. Everything was amazingly tasty. The portions were generous and we had some leftovers. For drinks, I had a margarita. From presentation to taste, I was impressed. Pleasantly sweet, the cocktail had a nice blend of ingredients, topped with an orange garnish along with a salty and spicy rim. Sweet. Fruity. Sippable. Well done. Overall, great food and great service!
